Testimonials

“Working in the school kitchen is a great job for me. I started when my girls were in school full time. I like that I’m busy and not sitting a lot. I enjoy working to feed the students, they really like what we serve for breakfast and for lunch. It’s a fulfilling job, the school is very supportive and they appreciate how hard we work to get the meals done everyday for lunch. Nutrition services provide our shirts so we don’t have to buy them. That is a huge savings for my family. I recommend this job to anyone who needs time away from home while your children are in school.”

Maria Sabadini, Assistant Kitchen Manager

“I have been working with Student Nutrition Services for 20 years. I am currently working for the St. Vrain School District as the Kitchen Manager at Soaring Heights PK-8 in Erie. My favorite part of the day is to see the student’s smiles as they come through the lunch line knowing that I play a small part in helping them make healthy food choices and improving their health and well being. I enjoy working and associating with all the wonderful people I have met throughout my years of service. I love the flexibility of my work schedule being able to have the same days off as my children and grandchildren.”

Ana Cramer, Kitchen Manager

“I have worked for Nutrition Services for 25 years, I started when my son went into first grade. I love my job, so I’m still doing it. I started as a server, then I learned how to be a cashier. I worked up to Manager and I love it. This is a great job for a stay at home Mom or Grandma that just wants to work part time. You don’t work in the summer unless you want to. When your children are out of school, you don’t work. The job is very rewarding. I really enjoy feeding students. The students appreciate that we work hard to give them good tasting food.”

Teri Zaynor, Kitchen Manager

“Working for nutrition services is the most rewarding job ever! Not only do you get the reward of seeing all the kids everyday, you also make a big impact in a lot of their little lives making sure they are fed throughout the week. Another plus side in working with nutrition services is you get the same days off as your kiddos making it easier to take vacations.”

Constance Cordova, Kitchen Worker

“Working for SVVSD nutrition services has been a great experience for me so far. I have only been with the district since the beginning of the school year and I have already been entrusted with a great opportunity and responsibility of being a travel manager early on, helping me accelerate my growth. Every manager and supervisor I have worked with so far has been very helpful, and I am always learning something new from everybody each day. I am very excited to see what the years bring working for SVVSD nutrition services.”

Brenda Walters, Floating Manager

A: The exact shift hours are contingent on the requirements of each location and may vary accordingly. However, it’s important to note that shifts will not extend beyond the timeframe of 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Q: What days of the week do we work?

A: The work schedule operates from Monday through Friday, with exclusions on most holidays and all weekends. Annual workday calendars are typically posted by January, providing a six-month advance notice before the commencement of the new school year. Explore the work calendars here.

Q: Do we accrue paid time off (PTO)?

A: You accrue one day of pay each month based on your respective hours.

Q: Are there opportunities to work during the summer?

A: During the summer months, we extend our meal service, and we are always in need of extra help. Employees working during this period receive extra duty pay for the hours worked. There are opportunities available in June and July for those interested in contributing to our summer meal program.

Q How often are we paid?

A: Paychecks are directly deposited monthly, on the last workday of the month, covering the payroll period from the 16th to the 15th.
