New Teacher Orientation
New Teacher Orientation (NTO) is required of all newly hired licensed staff members. This year, NTO will be combined with the Teach to REACH conference on August 1 and 2 and conclude on August 5 at the staff members’ schools or buildings or designated meeting location.
New licensed staff should have received a welcome letter with information on NTO/Teach to REACH. If you are new to the district and haven’t gotten your letter, or have any questions, please email [email protected].
On days 1 and 2, new certified employees should start at Longmont High School, 1040 Sunset Street, Longmont).
Agendas for 2024 New Teacher Orientation:
Day 1 – Thursday, August 1, 2024
● Doors open at 7:30am at Longmont High School
● Breakfast with your principals to kick off hte day at 7:45am
● Full day of conference sessions. Lunch will be provided in the commons
Day 2 – Friday, August 2, 2024
● Arrive at Longmont High School between 8:00am and 8:30am for a light breakfast
● Continuation of conference sessions
● New teacher luncheon (lunch provided by the St. Vrain Valley Education Association). Meet in the Big Gym at Longmont High School
● New Teacher Ice Cream Social at 3:45pm in the horseshoe outside of the commons, to celebrate and connect with fellow new teachers, SVVSD educators, and community partners.
Day 3 – Monday, August 5 , 2024
● Special education teachers, special education specialists, and ECSE teachers will report to Silver Creek High School (4901 Nelson Road, Longmont) from 7:30am – 3:30pm. Please bring your fully-charged computers this day.
● All other new-to-SVVS educators will report to your home building where your principal has planned onboarding activities for you, including the 2024-2025 Launch video beginning at 8:00am.
● Breakfast and lunch will not be provided on this day
● From 1:00pm – 3:00pm, you will have the time to set up your classroom with induction coaches available to meet you and offer support.
