The Department of Assessment, Curriculum, and Instruction supports the district-wide development of rigorous, relevant curriculum and supports the implementation of best instructional practices to sustain high student achievement.
We believe that today’s students must be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving landscape. If every child is to know that their future is possible, then every educator must feel they have the tools, knowledge, and capacity to put those futures within reach. It is our goal to provide continuous multi-faceted support to develop the self-efficacy to experiment, test, reflect, and collaborate that can be leveraged to illuminate all futures for all students.
We hold that the relationship between curriculum and technology as a vital part of our district’s vision for advancing the success of students and as an integral part of our Strategic Priorities for Student and Global Success: stvra.in/priorities. With that goal in mind, a foundation of “Actions and Attributes” was developed that gives clarity to our district’s beliefs about learning and environments (tech.svvsd.org/itac). Our Learning Technology Plan (ltp.svvsd.org) is a partnership between schools, Technology Services, Curriculum, families, and community. This continuous improvement model provides consensus-driven input to nimbly respond to our learning needs.
It is the department’s function to work with Learning Services personnel, principals, school teams, and individual teachers on curriculum and instruction issues and implementation as well as school-wide and individual instructional improvement.
