Meet the Principal
Principal Andrew Moore is excited to serve as the founding principal of Elementary 29 and to help build a school community from the ground up.
Principal Moore has spent more than 25 years in education as a teacher, instructional specialist, camp director, and school leader. Most recently, he served for 13 years as principal of Lyons Elementary, where he worked alongside students, staff, and families to build a strong school culture centered on relationships, meaningful learning, and a strong connection to community. Earlier in his career, he served as principal of Flagstaff Academy in Longmont (5 years) and taught students from kindergarten through eighth grade in a variety of settings.
Andrew believes great schools are places where students are known, challenged, supported, and excited to come each day. He is especially energized by the opportunity to build Elementary 29 together with its future students, families, staff, and community – creating the traditions, culture, and sense of belonging that will make the school uniquely its own.
Andrew and his family have called Colorado home for many years. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time outdoors, working on projects, and finding any reasonable excuse to wear a bow tie.

Project Design Background
The new Erie PK-5 school is a neighborhood school and will be located on a 10-acre site in the heart of the Colliers Hill community, with careful attention given to the site’s natural topography. The building uses multiple levels, connected by ramps, to respond to the land’s natural slope.
Inside the building, the design and organization of spaces were shaped by the needs of elementary and preschool students. Classrooms are organized into grade-level groups alongside flexible areas for dynamic group work, specialized learning, and student support. The academic areas connect to shared spaces, including the library, gymnasium, music and art rooms, makerspace, and cafeteria. At the center of the building is a central stair and gathering space, known during the design process as the “Heart,” which connects the different areas of the school and provides a shared space for students and staff. The preschool program is located at the north end of the building and includes dedicated access and an outdoor play area.
The exterior of the building is designed to complement the Colliers Hill community while serving as a neighborhood anchor. Masonry, metal panels, and expansive windows create a simple material palette, while a signature curved roof marks the school’s main entrances. The design also prioritizes energy efficiency, with an emphasis on thermal performance to reduce heating and cooling needs.
Attendance Boundary
As St. Vrain Valley Schools develops attendance boundaries for new schools, the district considers housing growth projections, walkability, transportation access, and balanced enrollment across the region. Community feedback is also an important part of the boundary process.
St. Vrain’s Planning office will present two proposed boundary scenarios at the Sept. 1 community meeting. Both scenarios are open for community feedback, which will help determine the final boundary. Minor adjustments may also be made as the process moves forward.

How will families stay informed throughout this process?
Multiple communication channels will be used, including email, newsletters, and community meetings. A dedicated website will launch winter 2027.
Will there be opportunities to provide input on the school's identity?
Yes. A survey will open during the first community event on Sept. 1 and families will have the opportunity to submit ideas for the school’s name, mascot, and colors. This input will guide the identity of the new school. These elements are expected to be finalized and announced by mid-fall 2026, allowing time for integration into signage, spirt wear, and materials.
When will boundaries be determined?
Following the Sept. 1 boundary discussion at Erie High School, community members will have an opportunity to provide feedback through an online survey. Feedback will be compiled and presented to the Board of Education at its Oct. 14, 2026, meeting, when the final attendance boundaries will be determined.
Who will be involved in shaping the school's culture and programs?
This fall, a teacher leadership team will be formed to help define the school’s mission, vision, and instructional philosophy. Once geographic boundaries are established, a parent advisory group will form to provide valuable insight into what families would like to see in their new neighborhood school—from educational programs to extracurricular activities to community partnerships.
