2024–2025 School Year
St. Vrain Valley Schools is committed to ensuring that all students, families, and staff have equitable access to digital tools and resources. Over the past year, the district has made significant strides in improving accessibility and meeting the requirements of Colorado House Bill 21-1110, which aligns with the federal Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
Key accomplishments include:
- Comprehensive Accessibility Reviews: We audited over 1,000 digital resources for accessibility and compliance, including websites, apps, and online curriculum tools.
- Updated Internal Processes: We revised our technology purchasing and vetting procedures to include accessibility as a core requirement. Program owners are now required to document the accessibility status of any new digital resource before use.
- Staff Training and Awareness: Targeted training sessions were provided to key staff on accessibility standards and tools. We also launched updated guidance for evaluating third-party digital content.
- Accessibility Coordination: In alignment with state law, the district has convened an Accessibility Committee to coordinate accessibility efforts, respond to reported issues, and support staff in making accessible choices.
We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. St. Vrain Valley Schools will continue to enhance our digital environments to ensure they are inclusive and usable for everyone, regardless of ability.
