Gale Database Training
Katie Mach of Thompson Gale will be at Lyons Middle/Senior High School at 8:30 am on aAugust 30th to review use of the Gale Databases to which we subscribe for research. Ann Cisar, Lyons new Media Clerk, will host this event.
If you'd like to attend, please accept this calendar meeting request so we can get a count. This is optional.
Ann: do you plan to use a lab at your school if you get enough library folk that want to come or do you plan to use the computers in your library? And do we need to do a work order to make sure that those machines can access the databases? Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center is a one-stop source for information on today's hottest social issues. Drawing on acclaimed series published by Greenhaven Press and other Thomson Gale imprints, OVRC features viewpoint articles, topic overviews, full-text magazine, academic journal, and newspaper articles, primary source documents, statistics, images and podcasts, and links to Websites. New to the database are Lexile reading levels for periodicals and an integrated national and state curriculum standards search with content correlated to the standards.

Contemporary Authors provides complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on more than 120,000 U.S. and international authors.

Contemporary Literary Criticism--Select is an extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary authors. Each CLC--Select entry contains a biographical/critical introduction, listing of principal works and sources for further study.
