This month, 13 Lyons Elementary School students are embracing their inner “shooting star” by participating in a new musical.
Written and directed by Lyons-area residents, “JOY and The Shooting Stars” is a youth musical that encourages each actor to let their light shine. The musical’s two nights in Lyons will mark the end of a three-month program that teaches social-emotional skills to second through fifth graders.
“The language in the musical — I call it a language of love,” said Molly Williams, the show’s writer and co-director. “At the end of the day, it’s about getting the kids to express themselves.”
