Twelve SVVSD schools to compete in this year's ReNew Our Schools Competition
The ReNew Our Schools Program is an energy conservation competition where schools compete to win $20,000 for energy retrofits for their school. Schools compete by conserving electricity in school and in homes in their community. The competition empowers students to learn real-world energy concepts, work with local energy experts and become leaders in their school community.
St. Vrain Valley School District, in partnership with the Center for ReSource Conservation, has selected the following 12 schools for the Spring 2014 ReNew Our Schools Competition.
- Thunder Valley
- Westview Middle
- Lyons Middle Senior
- Fall River
- Eagle Crest
- Prairie Ridge
- Red Hawk
- Lyons Elementary
Help your school win up to $20,000 towards an energy efficiency or alternative energy upgrade. For more information visit the Center for Resource Conservation (CRC) website. CRC hosts up to date competition details and school progress.
Community members can also track their local school's energy use through eGauge, a web-based electric energy and power meter that can measure and record whole-building energy consumption. The data can be viewed on any web-enabled device through the built-in web-server. The display is updated every second, giving immediate feedback on any load or generation changes. About half of all SVVSD schools currently use eGauge monitoring devices.
