Dear St. Vrain Valley Community,
Superintendent's Update - January 2016
Dear St. Vrain Valley Colleagues:
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your continued commitment to our students, teachers, staff and schools. This year, our students continue to demonstrate excellence in academics, visual and performing arts, and athletics as evidenced by numerous scholarship awards and All-State selections. The success of our students is a direct reflection of the engagement, support and partnership from our parents, coaches, teachers and community.
There are several exciting things happening throughout our schools including developing new graduation requirements for the graduating class of 2021; working with IDEO, a top innovation and design company, to launch a new state-of-the-art Innovation Center; and we are excited to announce that St. Vrain will be home to Colorado’s first P-TECH (Pathways through Technology) program in partnership with IBM and Front Range Community College. I invite you to learn more about our P-TECH program.
Additionally, St. Vrain is extremely fortunate to have numerous business/corporate partnerships both locally and nationally. These partnerships bring depth and expertise to our specialized instructional focus academies. Our supportive community and strong business partnerships have helped St. Vrain position itself for continued success. One strong indicator of our success is the fact that St. Vrain’s enrollment continues to surge. We are now the seventh largest district out of 178 in Colorado, with an enrollment of approximately 32,000 students and we are growing by approximately 800 students each year.

Another source of pride is our strong partnership with the Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley. Through this relationship, we are able to honor and recognize our fantastic teaching staff through our annual Tribute to Teachers event. Additionally, this outstanding organization continues to generate significant resources to support our students and staff.
Further acknowledgment of our students’ success is that St. Vrain Valley Schools was recently selected to represent Colorado in the Next State of Learning project, showcasing how some schools/districts throughout the United States are transforming public education. We were the only district in Colorado selected for this recognition.
I believe that the long-standing institution of public education is second only to high-quality parenting in determining the success of our students, communities and nation. Research indicates that of the approximately 55 million K-12 aged students in the United States, 90 percent are enrolled in a public school. Towards this end, St. Vrain is committed to supporting a vibrant economy by delivering a world-class education designed to prepare our students for advancement in the 21st century’s highly competitive, global market.
Thank you for your continued support, and as always, please feel free to contact me if you have questions, suggestions or concerns.
Don Haddad, Ed.D.
