St. Vrain Valley Students Excel at VEX World Robotics Tournament
In April, St. Vrain Valley Schools sent ten teams to the VEX IQ World Robotics Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky to compete against 580 teams from across the globe.
The competition is broken into four divisions: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Within each division (68 elementary teams and 77 middle school teams), teams get one practice match and 10 qualifying rounds with the lowest two scores dropped. The division rankings are established by the total score at the end of the qualifying rounds. The top 20 ranked teams in each division advances to the World Championship semi-finals with St. Vrain having four teams represented from Alpine Elementary, Central Elementary, Innovation Center/Niwot Elementary/APEX, and Erie Middle/Red Hawk Elementary. The 10424-D Team from Central Elementary went on to the World Finals and finished in 4th place overall. The 10424-G team at Central also won a Build Award for Engineering Division.
