Longs Peak Middle School named a 2017 Colorado Trailblazer School to Watch

On March 9, Long’s Peak Middle School was recognized as a 2017 Colorado Trailblazer School to Watch by the Colorado Association of Middle Level Education (CAMLE).
CAMLE partners with the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform, searching annually for middle grades schools across the nation that embrace academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity and strong organizational structures.
Longs Peak staff and community work in partnership to provide the 21st century skills necessary to prepare each and every student for higher education, while meeting the unique developmental challenges of early adolescence. This intentional focus on the whole child encourages academic growth and performance in a dynamic environment where students thrive.
One of 100+ Schools Nationwide Recognized at National Conference
Longs Peak is one of 100+ schools to be recognized nationwide at the National ‘Schools to Watch’ Conference on June 22, 2017 in Washington, DC. Longs Peak Principal, Ann Reed, will accept the award and present the school’s success story.

St. Vrain Valley Schools is Tops in State
St. Vrain now has more schools recognized as Colorado Trailblazer Schools to Watch than any other district in the state. Previous honorees include: Altona Middle School, Westview Middle School and Mead Middle School

Nineteen states are currently involved in the “Schools to Watch” program with the designation of Longs Peak raising the active number of ‘Schools to Watch’ to over 450 nationwide. The school shares their “Schools to Watch’ best practices by opening their doors to others looking to replicate success.
Longs Peak is a College Preparatory School
As a college preparatory school, Longs Peak implements the College Board Pre-Advanced Placement curriculum and SpringBoard, the College Board’s Instructional Program in English Language Arts and Mathematics for grades 6-12. The school truly lives up to its motto: College Ready. Career Ready. Ram Ready.
Launched in 1999, ‘Schools to Watch’ began as a national program to identify middle-grades schools across the country that met or were exceeding 37 criteria developed by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform. The Forum developed a web site (www.midllegradesforum.org) featuring online tours of schools, as well as detailed information regarding the selection criteria.
