Dear St. Vrain Valley Community,
Karen Gregg honored with Citation of Excellence award
Dr. Karen Gregg was recently honored with the National Band Association’s Citation of Excellence award.
The award was presented at the end of the Lyons Middle/Senior band concert. Under the direction of Dr. Gregg, the musicians performed a rigorous program of music and played to a full house. The weeks of practice and dedication were apparent to all who were present.
To her surprise, Dr. Richard Mayne, University of Northern Colorado’s Associate Director of Bands, was in the audience that evening waiting to present her with this honor. At the end of the concert, Dr. Mayne stood up to present Dr. Gregg with the prestigious award.
The Citation of Excellence award recognizes outstanding concert band directors and is awarded to an individual whose ensemble has a history of a distinguished level of accomplishment, or an individual who has made significant contributions to the field.
"Dr. Gregg was nominated because she has proven herself as an exemplary musician, educator, faculty member, officer in the Colorado Bandmasters Association, colleague, mentor, mother, and wife.
